GLOBAL WARMING

Published by arnv08 under Environment Edit This

In the recent time the most deadly threat to the human civilization and the rest of the living world is the global warming, a consequence of long neglected environmental pollution and the environmental degradation. It is the slow gradual rise in the temperature of the earth that makes the nature instable and unpredictable. The excessive emission of the green house gasses such as CO2, CH, NO etc are the main causes behind it and it is estimated that by 2030, the average global temperature will be risen by 1 to 3 degree Celsius.

Actually, the green house gasses and the water vapors in the air, form a gaseous blanket in the atmosphere which is transparent in case of short solar wavelength such as sunlight but reflects the longer wavelengths like heat. Thus, this gaseous layer can transmit the incoming solar radiation but traps and reflects the heat radiated by earth surface. As a result the atmosphere warms up and the progressive warming up of the atmosphere results into the global warming.

The global warming can affect the environment to a large extent and the adverse effects of the global warming are already being noticed all over the world. In some parts of the earth, the average rainfall has increased, in some parts the average rain fall has decreased and as a consequence some countries are suffering from droughts and some are from floods. In some countries the summer is prolonged and hotter but in some countries the winter is shorter and warmer. The ice caps and the glaciers of the Polar Regions are being melted partially, thus sea level is rising and it is measured that if the temperature increases by 3 to 5 degree Celsius then vast lowland and costal areas will be flooded.

If you are interested to study more on it, then I have a number of websites for you. To know more about the global warming and the stunning effects of it and how to combat it, do visit the following websites:

LIMITS TO GROWTH, THE ONLY WAY TO SAVE THE WORLD

Published by arnv08 under Environment Edit This

img_meadows.jpg

During the second half of the twentieth century, the whole world witnessed a sudden and unprecedented rise in economic growth that had benefited all most all countries of the world. The life style of the people of developed and developing nations were changed dramatically and globalization that arrived during the end of that century boosted up it as globalization allowed the countries to share the resources of each other. But the non renewable resources are limited, thus as a consequence, the problem of imbalance had arisen and the lack of resources is being felt nowadays as a big chunk of world resources are already spent.

It is quite impossible to replace the natural and animal resources with new inventions or to recreate the energy etc because these require huge investment, high quality man power constant researches and developments etc. Thus the only way to evade the crisis is that we have to limit the growth of the world-economy as a whole. This simply means that, we have to reduce luxurious lifestyle that uses luxurious car, air conditioner, expensive social function etc. We have to reduce the expenditure of energy, water, oxygen etc and need to conserve them for the future generations. These are the abridged extracts of the report, titled as Limits to Growth, produced by Club of Roam If you are interested and want to know more, then do visit www.clubofrome.org, the website of the Club of Roam or do hit the followings:
