Published by arnv08 under Uncategorized Edit This

If you need to buy a couple of books but spending money is not your cup of tea then e-books are tailor made for you and can make you on cloud nine because nowadays you can get e-books for almost all subjects without spending anything as numerous websites are providing them at free of cost. The term ‘E-book’ is the acronym for electronic book that is nothing but the digital media form of the conventional printed book. May be a striking disadvantage that you have to face, is that you need to keep your computer on, round the clock, to read those books, that simply results into the excess consumption of energy and thus points to the excess expenditure but here the amount of expenditure is much less than the cost of those books. The URLs of some selected websites among numerous websites, providing the free e-books are listed below:
1.   http://ebook.com
2.   http://www.free-ebooks.net
3.   http://knowfree.net/
4.   http://www.netlibrary.com/
5.   http://www.freepdfebooks.net/
In general, most of the e-books are being published in Portable Document Format (files with .pdf extension), so you need to have a specific type of software that reads PDF documents. If you don’t have any PDF reader then you can download it from http://www.adobe.com/.

Wish you, a very happy New Year. May the dawns of this New Year, bring promises of new joys for you. May your each day, be blessed with happiness, peaces and prosperity. Keep in touch with me. Good-bye.

Published by arnv08 under Uncategorized Edit This

Had been chatting with one of my friends, who had been speaking about a most common problem that was, he was habituated to read three particular newspapers daily but his parents were not allowing him to continue it as it seemed to be too much expensive for them. So he was asking me whether I could show any alternative way. Fortunately I could and the credit for it goes to Internet.
In this era of Information technology, if you have an Internet connection, then the famous newspapers like The Statesman, The Telegraph, Hindustan Times etc are just a click away from you. Now a day almost all popular Indian newspapers have their e-versions and allow reader to read contents online. Hereby I am specifying the websites of some well-known renowned Indian newspapers:
1. www.thestatesman.net
2. www.telegraphindia.com
3. www.hindustantimes.com
4. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/
5. http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/

Beside of these, several other portals like www.yahoo.co.in, www.MSN.co.in, www.rediff.com etc are also useful. News coverage on almost everything such as international issues, politics, business, games and sport, entertainment etc is available. So, don’t wait anymore, start reading e-newspapers.

WEBSITES: LEARN THE HISTORY OF THE INTERNET

Published by arnv08 under Uncategorized Edit This

The evolution of the Internet, an epoch making discovery, has revolutionized the various aspects of our life. It has brought the whole world beneath the canopy of its networks and provides support for nearly everything whatever we want, from education, business to all sorts of entertainments. In addition to it, the cost of affording an Internet connection has become much low thus now the public demands for it, are at the apex. But the condition was different, a few more years ago when I applied for it. It was then not so much cheap, so was not easy to get.

It was the third day I got the connection. After returning from the school and having a short nap, I turned on my PC and accessed the net. I was surfing the websites pointlessly. Suddenly the doorbell rang. Mom went to open the door, and it was Sumit who entered the room.
Let us be introduced with Sumit. He was one of the most ambitious and fashionable guys of our class. Whatever his position was in the class but he did not care. He always loved to fancy himself as a born leader and liked to poke his blunt nose into everyone’s personal affairs and to dump a number of useless comments and advices. And in my case too, there was no exemption, he always used to give knowledge to me. So, seeing his arrival my mood went off. Really he was too bland for me. Knowledge is good. But if anyone starts giving knowledge in everyday, every hour, every minute, and even in every second, then it becomes too hard to bear. I don’t know what happens in case of you but I don’t like these types of banal guys.
By the way, he entered my room.
“Hello! Good afternoon!” he greeted me.
“Yep, Good afternoon! Welcome!” I replied.
“What are you doing?”
“Nothing serious, just surfing net pointlessly and thinking to go for chatting”
I did a blunder saying that I was about to go for chatting. He caught the point.
“Don’t waste the time doing such hell and foolish stuffs like chatting that result into wastage of time and abuse of dad’s hard earned money.” He told in such a shrill voice that mom got the note that I was chatting.
“Always try to utilize the Internet in proper ways”, he advised, as if he was my grandpa.
“See, I have returned from school just an hour ago. Thus it is my leisure so I was looking for some entertainments and usually I use Internet seriously especially in case of study.” I shot back gently.
“Well! You are using Internet. Hope it is providing a great aid for your study. But do you know anything about the history of the Internet?” he chuckled.
I certainly did not know anything and did not have any intention to know from him because I realized that he was searching an opportunity to rain down knowledge over me under this pretext. So I pretended not to hear him. But the tiger got the smell of some fresh blood. Ignoring me he continued,
“It is better to start from grass root level. Do you know what is a network? It is nothing but a number of communicating nodes such as computers, telephones etc. Two or more intercommunicating networks form an internet. And one of the most notable internets is our so-called Internet that attaches the whole world with our personal computers. The antecedent of the Internet was ARPANET, the first network developed in 1969 by an organization, Advanced Research Project Agency (ARPA). It was implemented to establish communication between four major computers of University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB), Stanford Research Institute, and the University of Utah. It was J.C.R. Licklider of MIT, who proposed the first computer network and in 1973, Ray Tomlinson of BBN developed the first e-mail program for ARPANET…”
“How did you know these?” I asked interrupting him, as it seemed to be interesting to me.
“Actually I got these facts from Internet. Last year, I was assigned an essay on Internet. That was why I had to study a lot about it. So I took the helps from Internet. These facts are really very interesting, aren’t they”?
“Yes, definitely” I appreciated him, as then I got melted because, his lecture truly created some interest in me. I continued asking, “Can you remember those websites?”
“Yes, You can check, http://www.walthowe.com. Not only the history, but also several other interesting things are available there, such as definitions of several Internet related terms etc and many more. You can get a number of websites if you do search.”

Sumit had given me the website http://www.walthowe.com. It is really a nice website and if you are looking for an abridged version of the history of the Internet then it is the best for you. Along with the history, here you will get an Internet glossary that provides wide lists of interesting terms and definitions. http://www.computerhistory.org/internet_history/index.shtml
